Entomology Fish/Bug Emblem
I’ve been tossing this idea around in my head for a while now about designing something like the Darwin version of the christian fish symbol, but with an entomology slant. As luck would have it, a freind of mine at work has a machine that makes chrome plated emblems for cars and whatever else one would put such a thing on, so I sketched out my idea and asked him if he could make me a prototype. Just yesterday he cranked it out and so I’m unveiling it here:
My friend is also an incredible artist, and he vastly improved my original design. I am really happy with how it came out. I’m planning on ordering some more. I’ll probably give a few away for free, so if anyone wants one, post a comment on this blog entry and I’ll send you one in the mail – first 5 comments only. Actually, it may take a while to have more made, so be patient. After you make a comment, email me at http://www.entophile@gmail .com and let me know how I can get the emblem to you. They are about 5 inches long. If you’d like to check my friend’s website where you can have your own custom emblems made, then go to emblemart.com.
lol. this is great.
so playful
Glad you like it. I’ll send you one!
Great idea!!! Would love to have one of the free ones you are offering. But shouldn’t the feet
be pointed forwards? Or did I miss the joke?

Thanks for the feedback – soon as I get the next batch I’m sending you one.
Ooops! Now I got it. The “tail” has become the antennae. Guess I need stronger coffee in the morning.
Oh! Me me me!!! I want one!
The only thing I can think of better than a Darwin Fish is a Darwin Fish with a bug theme.
Love it!
Well, at least there are three people that like it! I’ll send you one also.
That one is awesome, would be perfect on my car…. are you going to sell some? I know several people who would love one (including myself)..
Cheers
Martin
My friend who makes the car emblems is in Japan for a couple of weeks, so it might be a while before I can get more made. Don’t worry, I’ll send as promised – it might just take longer than I anticipated.
By my count, I got here just in time. I’d love one!

Email returned – you can send it to:

Thanks!
Thanks for stopping by! Sorry the email didn’t get through. As soon as my order is completed and I receive the next batch of Ento-fish emblems I’ll send one to you in the mail.
I’m not fishing for a freebie, but wanted to pitch in a kudo. Nice!
Jim
Hi Jim – thanks for the kudo. Hope to see you in Hawaii again sometime! I have a feeling I’m going to have extras of these entomology fish, so don’t be surprised if you find one in your box one morning at NCSU.
I’d love to buy one for my high school classroom. My field biology students would love it!
No worries, since its for a biology class, I’ll just send one to you in the mail once I get the next batch (which hopefully will be in the next week or so). You can email the mailing address to entophile@hotmail.com .
Cory
OK – New Ento-fish are in.
I’m getting them in the mail on Monday.
So far I’m sending to TGIQ, Ted, Chuck, David, and Caitlin.
There were a few others who expressed interest but I received no address.
Spectacular – I’ll be looking forward to its arrival!
If you would send me one it would be awesome:

Hoorah!!!
I caught this post late! I’m so sad. But I love the emblem, are you planning on having any made for sale?
I have some extra if you want one. Just give me an address to send to.
OMG I LOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!! It’s going on my car today! And will be the subject of an ode or sonnet or something on an upcoming blog post! Thanks so much!
Got mine, too! Pretty cool. The big question is where to put it. Right now Entofish is living next to the clock but I suspect it will live in several different places before it finds the perfect place in the lab. Thanks so much!
That is fantastic! If there is one or two still available I’d be willing to buy them! Fantastic idea!
Hey, Cory. Got the Ento Fish in the mail. Thanks.
Bragging about Cory: Cory is a B. S. Zoology grad from my dept at N C State Univ. Occasionally we have something to brag about, in this case a Neo-Ento-Michelangelo!
Jim
Are there anymore available!? I’d love to purchase one!
Sure – I still have some left to give out. I’ve found that it is much more fun to give them away than to sell. Just tell where to send. If you’d rather not post your address here, you can email me at entophile@hotmail.com.
Got mine in the mail and am in awe! Thanks so much, and I am now the envy of my lab mates!
Howdy!! I’d love to have one of these! I just graduated w a BS in Entomology from Texas A&M and I (of course) I love me some bugs. 🙂 Do you have anymore??
Kimberly
I’d love to have one of these!! I just graduated from Texas A&M w a BS in ento and love me some bugs! Lemme know if you have anymore!!
Kimberly
Hi Kimberly – drop me an email at entophile@hotmail.com with a mailing address and I’ll send you one. Congrats on becoming a new entomologist!
Hi Cory- Thanks a million! I got mine in the mail last week and I love it. Thank-you for your generosity.
I love this emblem! Is it possible to order one? I would be happy to plug it on my FB site, Dr. Art Evans, entomologist” too.
I’d be happy to send you one. I will try to get the latest batch out this week.
I don’t know where my daughter, (a freshly graduated entomologist from Texas A&M) saw this emblem, but she put a large picture of it on my desktop with the caption, “I WANT THIS!!!” Do you have any available to order? She would be so thrilled…thanks!
Sorry about that…i think she may have already put in request. I just haven’t gotten around to getting the latest batch mailed out. I won’t be back home for another week, but when I get back I’ll send her one.
